| THE THIRTEENTH DAY On the first day of Christmas my God gave to me; Creation and all that I could SEE. On the second day of Christmas my God gave to me; My integrity. On the third day of Christmas my God gave to me; The knowledge that I am free. On the fourth day of Christmas my God gave to me; The promise of eternity. On the fifth day of Christmas my God gave to me; The vision of His wisdom, the Lord received. On the sixth day of Christmas my God gave to me; Friendship in the reverence of community. On the seventh day of Christmas my God gave to me; The challenge to become all that I might be. On the eighth day of Christmas my god gave to me; His body and blood for all eternity. On the ninth day of Christmas my God gave to me; A sacrifice of unequaled charity. On the tenth day of Christmas my God gave to me; The peace of victory. On the eleventh day of Christmas my God gave to me; A mission of honesty. On the twelfth day of Christmas my God gave to me; His great universality. On the thirteenth day of Christmas my God gave to me; To share His love in unity. So many times the real meaning of what Christmas is all about is wrapped in gala ribbons and paper. It looks so pretty that we never want to open it; to un-package it. And, so, year after year it remains a gift un-opened and un-used. This poem is a vision of what this Christmas package contains; in the hope that more will want to open it. For, it is a gift that can truly be shared with others.
